Early morning saw sun streaming through our windows and no wind so we got up and got to the launch site really early with several rockets and of course 'Spirit of St. Louis'. By the time we got to the site before 10-00, the sun was bright and visibility was awesome (we could see Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and Exmoor - great photo-opportunity !) but small clouds had appeared and a wind had sprung up which though not initially a problem at ground level, we could see by the birds in flight and some speedily scudding clouds was a problem higher up so no rocket-launching. Jim got in a couple of flights for 'Spirit of St. Louis but growingly gusty ground conditions ended in a dramatic nose-dive. More 'fixing' for the plane which is now in several bits. Chris wisely decided not to risk his helicopter. Rob and Pete turned up about midday....Felix |
